Description: There are 205 fugues, but many chorales are present in two, three, or four different fugue settings, so the number of chorale melodies is less than 120. In the sequence of titles, a certain relationship with the development of the liturgical year from Advent to Pentecost is evident, plus some devotional or catechetical chorales. It seems like a school of style for the improvisation of chorale preludes for the liturgical organist. The clear and orderly writing, graphically set out with very precise schemes, does not support the identification of the scribe with the author, especially since in some cases the first notes are missing in the thematic responses and in others the text is in considerable confusion, as will be noted in the critical notes.
